Bus drivers perfectly know that, when driving around on winter roads with passengers onboard, fitting snow chains can become annoying if it takes longer than expected.
Focusing on this specific consumer need, König developed a specific external chain solution, the K-Summit Pro, which allows the complete snow chain fitting without moving the vehicle and without acting behind the wheel with the typical hooking/unhooking operations.
The König K-Summit Pro snow chain is a supplementary grip device certified according to Ö-Norm V5119 thus fulfilling any Winter Equipment legal requirement both for busses but also heavy trucks
The König K-Summit Pro design is based on a central body manufactured in steel and which hosts the tensioning wheel.
Thanks to the treaded stud, by fastening the tensioning wheel, the central body of the chain gets positioned close to the rim with no efforts.
1 of 3The K-Summit Pro gets fixed on the wheel through a set of brackets which are installed on rim bolts at the beginning of the season.
These brackets acts as hooks where the central bar is installed during the chain fitting.
2 of 3The K-Summit Pro arms are manufactured in harmonic steel and they are designed with specific geometries prodiving a leaf-spring effect.
They get flat under load and, once the load is tranferred, they return to the original shape. This specific aspect allows the chain to automously slip onto the tyre tread while driving without requiring additional vehicle stops for any retensitioning or fixing.
3 of 3The König K-Summit Pro plates act as joint between the arms and the chain cross-sections.
The plastic plates are manufactured in PU and they’re flexible enough to deform during fitting and return to the original shape while driving.
1 of 6The K-Summit Pro cross-sections lay on the external side of the tyre without interfering on the internal side with the typical inner wheelhouse components such as suspension strut, MacPherson spring perch, multilink ball joints, swaybar links and brakelines.
2 of 6The KönigK-Summit Pro cross-sections include welded traction bars to provide additional digging properties and traction in general.
3 of 6The tensioning elements present on the König K-Summit Pro snow chains offer superior elastic properties and provide a real a fine-tuning of the tensioning level.
The tensioning elements are based on a double spring system which gets compressed under load, allowing the chains cross-section tensioning and micro-adaptation to the specific tyre aspects (size, tread, wear level).
4 of 6As per the tensioning elements, the adjusting elements are based on a double spring system getting compressed under load.
The adjusting elements are meant to be removed to reach a larger chain rolling circumference and subsequently fit larger tyres.
5 of 6The product features a bus-specific wire type known for being the best compromise between traction and driving comfort.
The adjusting elements are meant to be removed to reach a larger chain rolling circumference and subsequently fit larger tyres.
6 of 6When the K-Summit Pro is fitted, the inner side of the wheel is completely free from any snow chain part or component.
