König Polar Off-road

The classic snow chain with reinforcements for off-road and commercial vehicles

The König Polar Tr is the most popular snow chain for offroad purposes and it represents the lighter version of the König Polar HD.

The traditional construction of the König Offroad snow chains avoids the use of the typical consumer-oriented components such as steel flexible cables, fancy tensioning systems and other plastic parts. In the offroad chains you can find just superior quality steel ensuring maximum reliability in all conditions.

The product is a supplementary grip device certified according to Ö-Norm V5117 and V5119 thus fulfilling any winter equipment legal requirement both for light and also heavy vehicles.

Key features and benefits

Traditional, heavy duty construction

The product is built following the traditional Professional snow chains construction, meaning that the chain is 100% manufactured in Steel, lacking of any plastic component, cable arch or anything else. Just superior quality steel and the most advanced treatments, plain and simple.

Tensioning lever
The tensioning of the chain is given by the coupling of the tensioning lever and the tightening chain. Once reached the correct tensioning, the lever gets secured with a dedicated anti-return ring or shackle 2 of 4
Bent side hooks

Bent side hooks represent the most practical solution to connect hardened cross-section together with untreated side chains. Side hooks are bent with specific geometries starting from steel wire and they get pressed into position connecting the shoulder chain portion with the side chains.

Elastic end with heavy duty spring
The tightening chain gets secured to the side chain through an elastic end composed by an heavy duty spring and a carabiner for the quickest mounting/demounting process 4 of 4
Ice-breaker reinforcements
The horizontal links at the center of the cross-section present “over-links” with an higher thickness than the vertical links.

Used in heavier duty conditions compared to the simple link configuration, the ice-breaker setup provides an increased number of touch-points between snow chain and ground, improving vehicle handling side handling and offering a more aggressive geometry againts the ground. 1 of 2
Single diamond cross-section design

The cross-section design is generated starting from single diamonds in sequence. This is most typical cross-section design for offroad, truck and bus applications.

Inner closing hook

The inner hook is the connection point of the inner side of the chain.

K-Premium Steel

König has developed through the years one of the latest generation special alloy steel with a strictly defined chemical composition, selected amongst hundreds of options for its superior mechanical properties, perfect processability and fitment into bending, welding and surface treatment processes.

Traditional fitting system

The traditional fitting system with inner side chain is the most classical way to fit a professional snow chain. The super sturdy design doesn’t include anything else than steel and for this reason it’s the most reliable costruction available.

Available in 4.50mm and 5.50mm wire

According to the different tire sizes, the snow chain gets manufactured with different wire diameters which are directly proportional to the tire size.

Fully certified and legally valid

The snow chain is certified according to the latest regulatory standards Ö-Norm V5117, EN16662-1:2020 and additionally Ö-Norm V5119 thus complying to any snow chain legal requirement worldwide both for light (<3.5t) and heavier vehicles (>3.5t). Both the product and the packaging are showing the necessary marking required by the current legislation.
