When König developed the new Reflex snow chain concept, the aim was to provide consumers a new product allowing snow chains fitting like a breeze.
Probably not a big news as this is rather the same task every time a snow chain designer gets on the drawing board but, this time, König has matched and passed even the most shiny expectations.

Product design features
Outer rigid arch
The König Reflex is based on a double rigid arch design, one stays on the inner side of the wheel, the other on the outer side of the wheel. The outer rigid arch is composed by two inner cavities: in the first larger one there’s a rigid arch with shape of memory properties while the second thinner cavity is deputated to the sliding of the micro-cable to provide tensioning.

The Reflex Box is a micro-adjusted automatic tensioning powerhouse, integrated in the Reflex design from scratch.
In terms of functioning, the Reflex Box tensioning mechanism gets activated through a simple click on the red trigger activating the inner spring recalling the red micro-cable onto the inner drum.
Thanks to the double rigid arch, the micro-cable is free to slide through the outer arch, by-pass and inner arch. Thanks to this unique communicating system, the Reflex Box can tension the entire snow chain in all its parts.

As it’s understandable, a snow chain needs to be properly balanced to avoid resonance in dynamic conditions. Considering the weight of the Reflex Box, the counterweight ensures the chain remains properly balanced in dynamic conditions.

The by-pass is a composite band positioned over the tyre tread allowing the communication from the outer side of the wheel to the inner side and viceversa.
Thanks to the by-pass system, the micro-cable slides into the arches cavity and applies tension to the inner side of the chain when the Reflex Box trigger is engaged.

The Micro-Cable is a super-thin (2mm) yet tenacious carbon steel wire covered with a low-friction coating to allow a proper sliding. responsible of the chain tensioning.
Thanks to the special construction and treatment, the micro-cable slides through the arches and by-pass to allow the tensioning system functioning.
5 of 6Nylon bumpers for Wheel-Shield Level 1
The König Wheel-Shield Level 1 offers a full alloy wheel protection from the typical scratches of unprotected snow chains. All the components which might get in touch with the rim are manufactured in or covered by anti-scratch composite material.Additionally side hooks are covered by a specific set of nylon bumpers which detatch side elements from the rim profile. 6 of 6

Inner rigid arch
The inner rigid arch allows the fitting of the internal part of the chain like a breeze. In fact, the memory shape steel arch included in one of the cavities, the system allows stretch under load while returning to the original shape just after.
Thanks to this mechanical property, the chain can easily be mounted on the wheel.
As per the outer arch, the inner arch allows the internal sliding of the micro-cable proving a complete tensioning of the inner side of the chain.

Common features of the Reflex snow chains
Ready-to-go snow chains
The König Reflex design is based on a double rigid arch ensuring an instant understading of the fitting process and avoiding any kind of link-to-hook connections typical of traditional snow chains.
The Reflex fitting system is based on memory of shape components allowing the stretch under load while returning to the original shape just after.
The chains belonging to the Reflex family come from the factory ready-to-go: the user is uniquely requested to to stretch them, fit them on the wheel and activate the tensioning.
Automatic squared
The automatic tensioning feature on the Intuitive snow chains is based on a circular spring included into the Reflex Box, activated by the side trigger and recalling the micro-cable onto the internal drum, like a winch.
The automatic tensioning on the Reflex snow chain is defined as Automatic (squared) as it’s not limited to tighten the chain at first wheel rotation. In fact, the tensioning system is based on the complete integration between Reflex Box and the snow chain inner and outer elements (rigid arches and their connections).
The result is a one-click operation which is providing paramount tensioning performances.
Wheel-Shield alloy wheel protection
The Wheel-Shield Level 1 is the second protection level offered by König and it’s a combination of design, material and additional protection.
In fact, on the products carrying this feature, all the parts getting in touch with the alloy wheel are manufactured in soft-touch anti-scratch materials. But that’s not all.
The snow chain comes with a specific nylon bumpers kits for optional application: according to the fitting chain on the specific tyre, the user can simply install such nylon bumpers on the external side hooks in case the side chain elements covers the rim profile on i.e. low profile sporty tyres.
RPET softbag
Packed into an elegant hybrid soft bag manufactured in RPET (recycled plastic), the bag features an internal pocket to store the instruction manual and the complete product kit including spare parts.
The bag contains a pair of snow chains and the snow chain kit including mounting instructions, nylon bumpers for side hooks, plastic gloves and repair kit.
